По результатам одного из опросов в паблике  “Потока” ВК, больше 30% студентов заинтересованы в продолжении своей карьеры в науке, половина из которых хотели бы поехать за рубеж. В связи с этим редакция  переодически будет публиковать подборки актуальных PhD-позиций и вакансий в зарубежных вузах, и эта новость — как раз одна из таких подборок.

P.S. Как вы понимаете, для поездки за рубеж необходимо отлично знать английский, и поэтому описание многих вакансий приведено именно на этом языке.

PhD позиции по биофизике в EPFL, Швейцария

PhDstudent position in mass spectrometry/spectroscopy of biomolecules.
A PhD student position is opened immediately for 4 years at LCPM, EPFL, Switzerland (group of Dr. O. Boyarkine).We use an unique combination of high-resolution mass spectrometry and cold ion UV/IR laser spectroscopy to study structure and dynamics of biological molecules and their microsolvated clusters in the gas phase.Recently invented by our group method of two-dimensional IR/UV-MS fingerprinting of cold biological ions focuses on analytical identification of drug molecules, peptides and sugars.
We are looking for highly motivated, curiosity drivenstudents with solid educationin experimental physics, chemical physics,computerprogramming; some knowledge of spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and biology is desired. A university Master degree is required. Monthly salary is CHF 3200.

The Text Machine Lab for Natural Language Processing at the Computer Science Department at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for two fully-funded PhD positions in the area of computational linguistics and machine learning, available immediately.

The Text Machine lab is currently being supported by over $1.4M external/federal research grants from NSF, NIH, ARO, and the industry. The current externally funded research projects are in the areas of text-based temporal reasoning, computational analysis of civil conflict and informational biases in social media, and predictive modeling of patient outcomes and disease trajectories using clinical text from the electronic health records. Students also have many opportunities to collaborate with other high profile computer science and biomedical researchers in the Boston Metro areas, including MIT, Dartmouth College, Boston University, Brandeis University, and others. The University of Massachusetts Lowell is a tier 1 public research university with a national reputation in science, engineering and technology. UMass Lowell is located about 25 miles northwest of Boston in the high-tech corridor of Massachusetts. The Department of Computer Science currently has 17 tenured and tenure-track faculty members, 3 full-time lecturers, and a few adjunct instructors serving over 700 BS students, 161 MS students, and 77 PhD students. It also offers an MS in Information Technology online program with over 100 students. It offers bioinformatics options at all levels, a robotics minor, a data science option, and a PhD in computational mathematics. The Computer Science faculty has received approximately $9M in the last two years in external research funding from the NSF, DARPA, DOD, DHE, NIH, and corporations. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master’s in Computer Science or related field.
  • A strong background in mathematics and solid coding skills.
  • Previous research experience in natural language processing or machine learning is a strong plus.

Набор на программы магистратуры и PhD по физике в институте Вейцмана, Израиль.

Институт Вейцмана — один из ведущих мировых научно-исследовательских институтов (шестой в рейтинге инноваций Nature, тринадцатый по импакт-фактору публикаций на сотрудника). Обучение в институте бесплатное, всё общение и курсы ведутся на английском, студенты получают стипендию порядка 2000$ в месяц.

В институте читаются программы магистратуры и аспирантуры по физике, математике, биологии, химии и computer science. Факультет физики ежегодно принимает 50 студентов (магистрантов и аспирантов). Магистратура длится 2 года и заканчивается защитой магистерского диплома, аспирантура длится 4.5 года и заканчивается получением степени PhD. Перед выпускниками Вейцмана открываются широкие возможности как в продолжении научной карьеры, так и в high-tech индустрии. Из 85 защитившихся за последние пять лет аспирантов 42 поехали на постдок и 7 уже стали руководителями исследовательских групп (principal investigator).
